Asbestos products was once widely used in the construction industry due to it’s strength, insulation, ability to withstand high temperatures and resistance to chemicals. Widespread use of Asbestos began in 1930 and it wasn’t until the early 1970s that there was a decline in asbestos usage due to increasing concern over the serious heath effects.
Exposure to Asbestos can lead to a number of serious diseases such as lung cancer and mesothelioma The effects may not be felt at time of exposure and can take up to 40 years to develop. Asbestos related diseases are the leading cause of work related death for construction workers.
